Please note: this is a teaser for the film, and the finished version of Libertà is yet to be released. Stay tuned for updates!
Libertà is a deeply emotional graduation film that follows Andrea, a 76-year-old woman with a bold spirit and an unyielding desire for independence. Portrayed masterfully by Olga Zuiderhoek, Andrea refuses to accept her daughter Elizabeth’s plans to move her to a care home. Elizabeth, played by the talented Monic Hendrickx, is deeply concerned for her mother but struggles to convince her. Determined to maintain her freedom, Andrea begins preparing for a road trip to Italy, retrieving her caravan for one last great adventure. However, as the early stages of Alzheimer’s take hold, Andrea’s journey is filled with both touching and dangerous moments. The film is a tribute to the human spirit and explores the themes of autonomy, resilience, and the bittersweet challenges of aging.
When Tristan Adelaar (Creator and DOP), Raoul Karadag (Executive Producer), and Dapper Bruijn (Director) asked me to join this project as the Production Coordinator, I was thrilled. Having worked with this incredibly talented team before, I knew it would be a rewarding and collaborative experience. Working with them is always an absolute pleasure, and I was honored to contribute to bringing such a meaningful and powerful story to life.
In my role as Production Coordinator, I managed logistics, schedules, and interdepartmental communication to ensure the production ran smoothly. From securing locations to organizing daily operations and supporting the cast and crew on set, I worked to align every detail with the project’s creative vision.
Libertà was a challenging yet deeply rewarding film to work on. Portraying sensitive topics like Alzheimer’s with authenticity required great care, and seeing the heartfelt performances by Olga Zuiderhoek and Monic Hendrickx brought the story to life in a profoundly moving way. Being part of a project that highlights the struggle to maintain independence in the face of life’s toughest challenges was an honor, and I’m proud to have contributed to sharing Andrea’s inspiring journey with the world.
